Whilst planning our upcoming wedding, Jo found a fantastic way for us to help others using that old wedding tradition: the Bride and Groom’s wedding list.

Alongside our traditional list, held at John Lewis, we have set up an alternative wedding list, which contains items that benefit a selection of charities we identify closely with, like the PDSA and Marie Curie Cancer Care. Instead of toasters and kettles, guests can choose from items such as a dairy goat for an african family, a land mine clearing expert for a day or bereavement counselling for an orphaned child.

It works just like a normal wedding list, you can select and pay for items on-line, plus the charities get 100% of the benefit using gift aid. Alternative gift lists are not just limited to weddings either, as you can set one up for Christmas, Birthdays, Anniversaries or any other occasion.
